krista charles draws graphite landscapes in matchbooks based on their address’ google street view:“sometimes the places advertised on the matchbooks are still in business even after decades have passed, some businesses have changed names and are under new ownership, and some buildings are empty or have been torn down and replaced by new buildings or parking lots or highway expansion programs and even empty fields.”

snuck a few photos at the david hockney exhibition of his early work. doesn’t even scratch the surface of how stunning his later landscapes are (didn’t want to get kicked out for taking pics).
if you can, go see it at the royal academy of the art. if you can’t, well just be jealous and get reading i guess.
thank you david hockney for sharing your personal collection with the world!
note to self: go see david hockney landscapes at the royal academy for london 2012 fest
